What is it about

  1. The power to grant pardon or any other form of executive clemency is the sole prerogative of the President of the Republic of Seychelles as mandated by the Constitution of the Third Republic Article 60 (1).
  2. The President may grant pardon on any form of executive clemency provided for under Article 60 (1) (a) – (d) of the Constitution after obtaining the advice of the Advisory Committee on the Power of Pardon.
  3. The Committee may make any of the following recommendations to the President.
    1. Grant to any person convicted of any offence a pardon, either free or subject to lawful conditions;
    2. Grant to any person a respite, either indefinite or for a specified period, of the execution of any punishment imposed on that person for any offence;
    3. Substitute a less severe form of punishment for any punishment imposed on any person for any offence; or
    4. Remit the whole or part of any punishment imposed on any person for any offence of any penalty or forfeiture otherwise due to the Republic on account of any offence.
